Thanks for trying to help Bob I think I found that the printer was printing at 360dpi after amping up to 2880 it looks almost as good as the print from my Canon 960i. Color is better with the Canon but that is most likely settings and since as soon as I get the how to use stuff figured out this printer will be used for B&W only with UT-2 inks color don't matter that is what the Canon printers job will be. No sign of the grain. And the file it was taken from was a digital capture with my Canon G3 so no scan or film grain. Still trying to figure out how to get it to print from the various editing programs I have so I'll most likely run into more things I need to ask about.
