In general the ink adjustment affects the first few steps of the wedge, darkening them when you plus the adjustment and lightening them when you minus it. I don't have a reflection densitometer but to me it looks like only the first two to eight or so steps are affected depending on the strength of the adjustment. The gamma adjustment is a little less clear to me. By referring to "midtones" it implies that only the midtones are affected but just from looking it seems to do what you would think any gamma adjustment would do, i.e. affect overall contrast in that both ends of the wedge are affected as well as the middle.
