8in x 10 in. Let's say we want 360dpi to be sent to the printer then you need 2880x3600dpi. You are scanning 4x5in negs. So you need only scan at 2880/4 dpi or 720dpi. BUT who knows whether you might like one of those images printed larger - even if you have to outsource it. Rule: scan at the best optical resolution of your scanner and tuck the file away.
