I use the same workflow, but can't answer your question about profiles. The key question for me is: what does QTR do with a profile embedded in an image? Most people who do not use Qimage are presumably printing from 8 bit grayscale TIFFs. Presumably, you'd have a dot gain profile embedded in such an image. Does QTR do anything with this? Those of us preparing the TIFF for printing using Qimage will get monochrome RGB TIFFs as input to QTR. Should we embed a colour profile in the image, i.e. will QTR take any notice of it? If so, which one? My input images to Qimage are also monochrome RGB images, in AdobeRGB, and at present I don't get Qimage to do any conversion or embed a profile in the monochrome RGB TIFFs it creates for QTR. I don't know if there is a more sensible approach than this. So I was hoping that someone else woudl have an answer too. In relation to other questions about workflow, I posted some more detailed comments about page and image size recently in the Qimage group. You'll also find a *lot* of comments there about sharpening. You'll find some recent comments here about what PPI to set in qimage for your output TIFF.
