"...I would appreciate any thoughts on the use of a digital camera and
feasability of using one to get respectable prints up to 13x19."

I think you would get more and better responses if you were a little more
specific about which camera (or at least which price range camera) interest
you and some idea of what you consider "respectable" based on whatever
present system you're using. But FWIW, I have a Nikon D100 (6mp) and Nikon
prime lenses that I use for snapshots (my "serious" work is with 4x5 and
8x10). I've made prints from this sytem as large as about 11x14 with
results that are acceptable to me for my purposes. I haven't tried anything
larger than that. But even if my present system wouldn't go larger, I'd be
very surprised if the 8mp and up cameras that have come on the market
recently couldn't produce "respectable" 13x19 prints.

When I used to use a 35mm camera the largest "respectable" enlargement I
could usually make was 8x10 and even that was pushing it. But then I'd hear
people talking about the "great" 16x20 prints they made from their 35mm
negatives. So who knows, we all have different standards but digital has
come a long way in the last year or so and I feel confident that there is a
system out there that would produce "respectable" 13x19 prints if you're
willing to spend the money.

I was waiting (hope i'm not the only one) for digital camera users to
chime in with their experience on A3+ b&w prints from digital files
but the discussion went into another diection which is ok considering
the background of the question.

So if I may, I'd like to ask those with experience relating to the
above question if they would share it with us.
TIA
