Julian/Hap, Sorry, I've been away from my computer for several days. I do not use Lyons curves. I simpler than that. I just use the Epson profile specific for the Epson Photo paper and the correct settings on the printer dialog. You get neutral continous tone black & white prints with Epson color OEM inks. You can achieve this with the 1270 and 1280 (1290). The quality is amazing. The only drawback is that the prints are not archival. So not for selling but great for portfolio or proof. I also have a 1160 that produces, with the right profile, very good black and white pictures with the OEM inks. But it clearly shows more dots than the 1270, probably because it is a 4 ink printer. I posted the instructions on the list a month ago more or less. If you do a search you should find them. If not let me know and I will repost them. Jose Luis. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 18 Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2001 16:52:49 +0100 From: "Julian Thomas" <julianthomas@...> Subject: 4Jose!! lyons curves/oem inks Jose Luis will have to answer that one - I only saw the output on an Epson glossy paper. I know that Jose has spent about 2 weeks in seclusion testing this stuff!
