Nomorecarts CIS system comes with the chips. I find that they do allow the 
counter to show ink usage, but all you have to do is turn off the 1270 for 
about a minute, then power up again and the counter will reregister and show 
full. You might get a note asking if you want to use the non-Epson inks, I 
always mark off yes and have never had a problem. I would be extremely 
conscientious when installing the Velcro, as I find mine comes loose 
sometimes (ever so slightly) and the tubes snag under the head carriage.
A great system in general, and a hell of a money saver.
