The reason for this is to use different physical jets for each pass to reduce the likelihood of banding. But of course more passes take more time. The other major quality issue is whether the head prints on both directions or just one way. This is the "Speed" option Faster means bi-directional and Better means uni-directional. How much difference this will make on each printer depends on how consistent the positioning of the head is on the printer.
