There is definetly some sort of "bug" in 2.1.7 because I can't go 
back to an earlier version either. My problem is merely that the 
9600 wants to go into sheet feed mode before it wants to print even 
though I have "roll feed cutter on" selected. I tried dumping 
everything and starting from scratch and the 2.1.7 GUI window 
appears even though I'm trying to load 2.1.6. I can "live" with the 
printer not cutting since I make about a dozen B&W's a year, but if 
I ever get that dream order :((
