1280 is software reset-able. You can just use a software "SSC Service Utility" to reset the chips. If the printer can't recognize an 1280 UT2 cart, it's most likely the problem of MIS.. lots of their standard chips are not working. What I do is put an empty epson OEM chip into the cart.. it takes just 1 minute to do with a small knife.
