Canon i9900 or Epson

I am ready to buy a printer 13x19 format and will mostly do color 
hence my leaning to the Canon i9900. HOwever, black and white 
digital is of a great interest also.   Is there any headway in the 
near future for the  right ad ons to convert this printer to be 
similar to the Epson?
