Danny, I want to add that the fill hole has to be big enough for the air to flow out as you push the ink into the cart. The vent holes aren't enough. If the fill hole is too small, ink will be pushed out of the fill hole as you are filling the cart. As far as pieces ngetting into the cart, well that's why the sponge is in there. That's why I don't like the idea of a spongless cart. If anything gets into the ink, it will probably clog the jets. When Epson fills their carts, I'm sure they're in a "cleanroom" or the equipment is sealed off some way to prevent contamination.
