Actually, I think the best way to get rid of (micro-)banding when
nozzle check's good, is to use the MIS documented method.. (Worked for
my 1270)

Put in real Epson carts (not close to empty)..
Run a clean cycle or two to get nozzle check to work again.

Then print 5-6 purge sheets. (360dpi, photocopy paper should be fine).
My experience is that you will see banding from time to time in the
first few.. then the last two should be totally clean (you can use
720dpi on a epson photo inkjet paper to be sure).

Swap the MIS carts back and run clean cycles, nozzle checks.. Then
print 1-2 purge sheets. Everything should be fine at this point..

(Put the Epson carts in a ziplock bag in case you need them again)
