IJC/OPM Tutorial Now Available!!!

2005-01-22 by ldina

For those of you who own, or ar considering the purchase of IJC/OPM,
I have written a tutorial and posted it in the "Files" section of
this forum, in the IJC/OPM folder.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/files/

I bought IJC/OPM primarily for its ability to create profiles for ANY
inkset/paper combination. I have to say, I am extremely impressed
with the IJC profile creation portion of the program (IJC stands for
Ink Jet Control). As Bowhaus will freely admit, they did not have
adequate documentation to explain all the power and flexibility of
the program. In fact, I was initially a little frustrated because I
knew all the tools were there, but I couldn't quite figure them out.
OPM (the actual printing part of the program, which stands for Open
PrintMaker) is very easy and intuitive to use. OPM uses profiles
created by IJC.

After two 90 minute phone sessions with Joe Berndt (author of the
program), I was building awesome profiles for my 2200. The results
are spectacular. In fact, I have a 2200 at work, which I use for
proofing brochures destined for press, and another at home, which I
use for my own fine art prints. I was rather surprised to see how
different my printers behave with the same paper/ink combination.
This alone has convinced me that I need the ability to tweak and
linearize even the best profiles. IJC does that quickly and easily.

Anyway, I thought I would try to fill the knowledge gap and provide a
step by step tutorial that hopefully will answer 90% of the questions
most new users, or potential users, might have. That's how impressed
I am with the program. Besides, it helped me to learn the program
better and solidify my understanding.

Hope it is of some help.

Regards,

Lou Dina
