Although there is a learning curve involved and some expense Peizography is the best currently on offer. It has a selection of tones but none of them are strictly neutral, there is warm neutral or cool neutral, selenium and sepia. You can import them easily as I have done myself. That said, I've had my problems with the versions of the profiles for the 1290 and I am currently using profiles that have been made for my specific printers. Since getting this system (and getting some good prints without any metermerism or dots,) I acquired an Epson 4000 with UT inks and that now produces some really amazing black and white using the quadtone rip. Without the 4000, the 1290 would have to do the job and I am sure it would. Regards John.
