Hello all, A while ago I asked whether anyone has found a useful book about using photoshop specifically for b&w images. Well, since then I have found, not a book, but a wonderful CD put out by RH Designs that takes you step by step through image manipulation in photoshop. What I love about it is the fact that it relates the image tools to the darkroom and focuses on producing traditional b&w prints. It is the most comprehensive and easy to understand information I have found yet on the subject (and I have been buying and reading everything on the subject for the past 4 months). Anyhow, if you are just getting started and need some clarity for how you can optimize photoshop for your b&w images, check out this cd. I have included a link below: http://www.rhdigital.co.uk/html/b_w_workshop_cd.html Josh p.s. I have no links to this company at all. This is just my opinion. If you do happen to order the cd, watch out for the currency conversion. It comes from the U.K. and ends up costing about $50.00 for us U.S. folks. -----Original Message----- From: Paul D. If you're starting with color images, as from a digicam, then it's important to know something about the color manipulation tools, because it's important to learn how to exploit the color for getting the best detail and contrast in the B&W conversion. However, there are some things, like really brutal curve adjustments, that work wonders on B&W images but that would be disastrous in color. So there is certainly room for someone to write at least a long article, if not a short book, on using PS specifically for B&W. Until someone does, the archives of this list are probably one of the best resources, even if painful to search. -- Ciao, Paul D. DeRocco Paul mailto:pderocco@...
