Hello all folks who are using XP and Photoshop for working with QTR for printing images utilizine the new LAB Gray workspace for QTR. i was having trouble understanding the workflow, but after reading several of the messages; I think I've got it right for my understanding. Let me list the steps I use and am able to get a satisfactory image printed from one of my standard images that I use. 1.From the Photoshop menu Image>Mode>Convert to Profile (Source space- -probably Adobe RGB) (Destination Space--Profile QTR Gray LAB space) (Conversion options--Adobe ACE engine) (Intent--Perceptual)(Use Black Point Compensation) This will convert the file to the new LAB Gray Space. 2. My monitor is calibrated to Gray Gamma 1.8 and 5000K, and I have found that I have to initially proof as Gray Gamma 1.8 (which lightens the screen image considerably, so I apply a curve to bring the midpoint of 128 down to 100) and after merging layers, I then proof at QTR Lab-Matte. This now has the image on the screen as it will print on paper. After giving it the final touches, I save it as a .tif file to use in QTR. This workflow may be necessary only for those using XP. I think Roy and Steve(s) all use Mac systems, which has Colormatch that may correct some things automatically for them. I hope this helps someone who has been learning the new LAB Grayspace.
