I call the inkset I have in my 7500 the UT-FSN+. It varies from the UT-FSN in a couple respects. First, the middle gray is darker. In the FS-type inksets the M (medium light) and Y (very light) inks have always been, in my view, too close. The gap between the M and C (dark gray) is very large, however. On the modern printers this doesn't make much difference. On the 7500 it did. So, this is a distinction between the inksets that doesn't make much practical difference to the modern desktop hextone printers. Second, The UT-FSN+ has UT-FSN in only the C, LC, and Y spots. I put a light warm gray (UT2-LM) in the LM spot, and, initially, PK in the M spot. The light warm ink helps me profile the rag matte papers. I think their shadows often get too cold. This ink also allows for a reasonably good warm print on most rag paper, which print warm in the highlights even though the Y ink is neutral-cool. The PK continues this warm ink channel. It also helps give a good dmax when used with the C to generate the black. Eboni is in the K spot. Since I'm not that interested in warm prints, I now have PKN in the M spot. The light warm gray still allows the profiling, but the PKN gives even a better dmax. The UT-FSN inkset in the CMCMY ink order allows relatively easy grayscale printing with the hextone printers. A simple grayscale curve is all that is needed. Simplicity was part of that program. The UT-FSN+ is more complex -- almost a variable tone inkset. So, I really don't recommend others use it in a printer for which there are no ready-made curves. Hope this explains the differences. Maybe Paul Roark can answer this question - we have talked about it before. I see that MIS has released the UT-FS and -FSN inks for Epson 1270/80 /90 (six-color printers). Are these inks the same as you use in your Epson 7500? Or what is the difference?
