Try the Ilford Smooth. But it is worth understanding what a QTR curve is a little more because (you have a great printer and) ideally you would have a curve linearised for that specific paper (and your specific printer). Take a look at one of the ink descriptor files (.txt) and then look at its .quad file. The .txt file is how you instruct QTR to create a set of lookup tables - the .quad file - for a specific ink/paper combo. In essence, QTR for each file pixel value looks up the tables and fires each ink according to the % indicated in the lookup table (expressed as an 8 bit number). When you do an ink descriptor file you tell QTR which inks are going to be used to make up the greyscale (eg K and LK combined with LM and LC to cool the LK down => UC_Neutraliser=yes), what the ink limits are and at what point are the cross-overs, and importantly, at the end you linearise this, meaning you want nice even steps in Lab's luminance from paper white to ink black. Combine this nicely linearized greyscale output with Roy's perceptual rendering and you have a sweet workflow. > From: jsigmonmd24 <jsigmonmd24@...> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Thu, 03 Feb 2005 17:00:22 -0000 > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Subject: [Digital BW] QTR paper settings for Esemimatte or prem luster > > > > > > Anyone know the appropriate papersetting/curve setting when using epson prem > luster or > prem semimatte paper with QTR. > > Should I use the ilford smoothpearl setting, one of the epson settings, > velvet? > > Just thought I'd save myself some paper if someone has some info > >
