Sarah, There are occassions when QTR will print some bands in all black areas. From what I have heard, it has to do with the gimp engine. If it is the same problem I had, I solved it by adding about 2% noise to the shadow areas using Photoshop. I have also heard (but not tried) using a different dither algorithms. Give it a try with the same image and see if it works for you.
