Rick,
the 2200 has been discussed a lot on this forum. You may want to look
at past messages ("archives") by searching for 2200-related threads.
Briefly - if you use the UC inks that come with the printer, you can use
a program that allows you to mix the color you want for bw. i use
IJC/OP and make profiles to my liking. It also comes with ready profiles for
cool or warm tones that you can blend.
if you don't need to print color from the 2200 you may be better
served switching to MIS inks (UT7, for example), which are also
supported by IJC/OPM.
As for papers, it's best that you seek out sample packs to see for
yourself what you like. Epson markets several fine-art papers,
Hahnemuhle is big in the matte market, and other makers like Moab
(inkjetgoodies) offer many alternates. Glossy papers aren't
as archival as some matte ones, but there are choices in Epson,
Ilford and others that you should try out. Look at atlex.com for some
choices in Epson. Glossy is more problematic because of bronzing
and requires coating of some sort.
Also look for links and other info in our list homepage .
