I usually use the MIS UT EZW inks in a little C86 and am very, very satisfied. In fact, I'm looking for a second C86 to have in reserve. Since January I have printed well over 100 A4's and it still just keeps churning them out. But at the office someone came to me with a catalogue and asked "what printer should we buy?". I didn't give it much thought but replied Epson 2100. So it came yesterday and I was asked to set it up. So I did, and I downloaded QTR in the process. I just thought I'd test it out. Everyone here at the office uses color, so it was just for my own curiosity. Not much to report ... it went without a hitch. I went to the Windows XP page, download page and downloaded QuadToneRIPSetup_2.2a.EXE. I have Windows XP Professional with all the updates. The installation process was what you have come to expect with professionally packed software now-a-days --- click, click, choose printer, click, click, click. I've printed out some on Epson Enhanced paper with the Epson ink (Ultrachrome) and have been able to do a direct comparison with a print I have at the office done with the UT EZW inks. If I don't write down the details on the back of the prints, I won't be able to tell you which is which tomorrow. It was very nice to be able to experiment with various tones (cool, warm) on the same print using the same inks. Just choose a different curve. Lovely stuff. Now I'm really anxious for that R800 support, since that is what I have at home too. I would possibly like a little more support for some popular papers. I can't see that I have a curve for Hahnemühle Photo Rag. But hey ... I've just been running the stuff for about an hour. Maybe it's there. Daniel Ridings http://www.dlridings.com
