Carl, you can tone the true black and white prints from Mpix with traditional darkroom toning techniques. I've used sepia and selenium toning baths, but am pretty cheesed about lith redevelopment. Mpix does good work, and takes the difficulty out of the darkroom, so you can concentrate on the post processes.
