Carl's blending action was designed as a means of soft proofing hue under the old workflow (pre use of perceptual intent to map from workspace to print space). If you want to soft proof hue you will need to make your own soft proof ICC files from output generated with the new workflow. Unless I am mistaken, Carl has not updated these hue proofs for the new workflow. (The proofs were intended primarily to preview the workspace to print space mapping rather than hue. Now that mapping process has been significantly improved and can be soft proofed from the actual ICC profiles used (QTR Gray Photo/Matte Paper) in the perceptual conversion process.) > From: Diane Fields <picnic@...> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2005 13:54:59 -0000 > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Subject: [Digital BW] Re: softproofing in Windows/Can I take this back???? > > > > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Diane Fields" > <picnic@c...> wrote: >> I hope I'm not being too obtuse, but I've read through the > directions on the >> QTR site for softproofing (double clicking on the 'install > softproof' >> command does not appear to be valid in Win--I had never heard of it > before, >> but I tried it anyhow) > > I just found the 'proof' folder and am going to copy the 'proof' > files to that and see--live and learn LOL.
