It is all just a counting mechanism and not an accurate one! The printer has no idea of how much ink is actually in the cartridges. When you get an out of ink message, lift the cartridge cover, pull up slightly on the rear of the cartridge and then re-close the cover. This should cycle the micro switch in the cartridge holder of the printer and fool the printer into thinking you installed a new cartridge. Wait until you actually run out of one of the inks before you change carts. You may waste a piece of paper this way but that is cheaper than new carts. Martin Wesley
