Digital BW, The Print

I've tried to contact epson, but they won't help because there 
not "there" inks. My computer says this"Epson status monitor3" Ink 
cartridges cannot be recognized.  Do I need to do anything to the 
cartridges themselves, or can I make the printer think I have the 
right ones? Jeff
