An ultrasharp Canon Pro-1 (or Olympus C8080) user who didn't critical recording of pores and zits might want to risk $ on a Hassleblad/Zeiss Softar filter, probably a #1 or #2 intensity... Softars aren't diffusers, they're like a bug's eye, zillions of mini-lenses... you get a simultaneous soft-sharp, with the dark stuff (eyes, hair, teeth edges, nostrils) sharp and the light stuff softened to a degree that depends on the # from 1-3. Once almost universally used on Hassleblads for fashion work. Don't know what size you'd need for the Canon Pro-1. There's one on Ebay buy-it-now for $60...maybe that's fair. Seems to me they cost twice that or more new. Maybe Tiffen or Hoya has something comparable. I'm posting this here because your email bounced.
