The magenta cast is what drove me away from MIS inks. For several years I used MIS VM inks in an 1160 with Paul Roark's curves and everything was great. Then I bought a 1280 and used UT2 inks with Paul's curves in it. Things were fine for a while but then I started getting the magenta cast on everything and the prints looked terrible. With help from Paul I think the cause was traced to a bad batch of inks that MIS got from its supplier. I thought I read here that the problem was fixed with later batches of inks but by then I had happily switched to a 2200 with QTR and UC inks so I never saw for myself. Maybe you got some inks from the old batch if some of those are still around or maybe the problem hasn't really been fixed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Michaels" <bob@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Monday, March 28, 2005 9:35 PM Subject: [Digital BW] Re: Ultratone on Epson 1280: which paper and ink? Have you tried one of the warmer curves? And, are you sure all the nozzles are printing? I found UT2 to be a bit on the warm side to my eye. Also, haven't been able to tell much difference, especially tonality, between EEM and HWM.
