Re: [Digital BW] Photoshop 6 upgrad users?

2001-11-28 by Carolyn Frayn

As Richard says the color management is the biggest change, and worth the
upgrade alone in my opinion. It was totally revamped, no more silly "display
using monitor compensation"... And each file can be opened under it's own
profile!

The new features for the layers is good too, but I say this because I use a
lot of layers, sometimes 50+.

I find the blending options dialogue requires a second monitor to display
(which I don't have) as it is huge and covers a good deal of the image.. but
nothing serious.

Some people complain about the brushes palette being docked with this
upgrade. I like it, I find it easier to use. Two quick shortcuts: If you
hit return the pallette will open up, click a brush and paint, as you paint
the palette will disappear... or double click a brush to have it disappear
immediately if it is over your image. Also, use the square parenthisis keys
to increase and decrease the size of your brush on the fly, not new but very
useful.

There is probably tons more but I've been using it so long I've forgotten
what is new compared to earlier versions. I have a photoshop user magazine
that has all the new features highlighted, if you'd like to know more I'll
find it.

Carolyn

PS: The new text features was a dream come true for my cover art!
