That's what I see in practice and what I see described in some Epson docs (vague though for the last). I think something similar is happening on the 9600 models. Changing to watercolor in the menu made banding much less with HM 310 gr. papers on my 10000. The firmware allows alignment changes in paper feeding etc related to the paper choices, but I find that quite complicated and it works alright now. I don't think this all was available on the 9000. There were paper thickness categories but not more. Ernst
