It potentially could be used for "physical" properties of the paper such as thickness, platen gap, and feeding issues. From what I've observed I don't think this is ever used. I think all the current printers are pretty automatic for these things in their default mode. Unfortunately this area of the Epson documentation is vague to non-existent. I'm sure it doesn't effect the QTR profiles -- ink limits and such. At the moment I just leave it always on Matte Paper. Roy > > So far I have observed no effect.
