Digital BW, The Print

hi all!

I am looking to start a VERY small studio in my home. i don't have alot of room just yet so i just need/want the basics to use for mostly portraits, but i need good prices and good quality (what are good brands and what model numbers, etc.)

 Anyone have any ideas on what to get first - where to get them (online or in Baton Rouge, La) and what's a good price for the items, so that i don't overspend?

Also - if you can, explain what each item I will need is good for - i'm still rather new at this!!!

I currently have an Olympus Camedia C-3040Z (a pretty decent beginner's Digital cam I got for $800 with remote and i have a tripod and several filters) with no flash hot shoe and the flash that's built in is awful for indoor use! totally washes out the face and makes it look so unprofessional.
