I recently bought a Powershot Pro- 1, and the software with it not only gives you 48-bit tiffs, it does a very good job of it, though its a bit clunkier than ACR, Rawshooter essentials, and C1, all of which I tried. My opinion (and I'm sure a lot of people wil hit the ceiling in indignation at the claim) is that the Canon software is better than all except C1 at giving you a noise-free grainless image, (and is equal to the latter) which the Pro-1 output needs much more than the Rebel XT. And I think C1 is too steenkin' expensive considering how many good options there are! Got a look at your Tuscon shot, absolutely georgeous! I'm assuming that's a scan from a print?
