I think that you are on the good way even without QTR. My 4000 B&W prints are constantly mistaken for darkroom prints by printing experts. The tone in cold though, which I like. I have little experience with QTR, though I did start the Yahoo QTR group. I have only experimented with it a bit. To date I can only say that it does seem to work in the sense of permitting a variety of different print tones.
