I was at a gallerie yesterday, and the BW darkroom prints looked pretty good with a very nice surface, and no glass in front. I asked the guy what kind of paper it was, thinking they may have been ink prints, and he said "semi-matte, darkroom".....Anyways, I still have not been able to get the kind of quality that I get from kirkland from my semi-matte using the curves for ebony and glop. I suspect that it is The media setting, which I am not sure of. When I use the glossy film setting, the shadows are kind of posterized, and when I use the premium glossy setting the ink is way too heavy. I just did a print with premium semigloss, and it did turn out quite nice. The glop is less effective with semigloss that it is with kirkland and semi-matte. I do like the surface of semi the best, and the glop works great on it. So I am wondering if I should experiment more with media settings, or adjust the curves. I almost think that the ilford curves may work better than the semimatte curve. (accidentally chose the wrong one one time. It was the ilford carbon curve, looked pretty good, but it was a diferent image) So, Paul, or anyone that may be trying this combo, what do you guys suggest? I have been doing some experiments jsut trying to drain my last prefilled glop cart. It is finally empty, so tomorrow I will attemp switching over to the clear carts. Crossing my fingers! as Usual, all info is much appreciated, Doug M
