No, but most on this list probably are using dedicated B&W inksets or an
UltraChrome printer with a rip.

The Epsons are favored because they can pump the higher viscosity that pure
pigment inksets require.  The carbon-based B&W pigments make very good
prints.

It's a cheap, easy, and very good solution.  It'll let you know what the
dedicated B&W inksets can do and whether you want to move up from there.
