Digital BW, The Print

I've seen several different cleaning solutions mentioned on this group: 
diluted ammonia, Windex, and other stuff.  What do you recommend for 
unclogging jets or getting rid of gunk stuck to the bottom of the jet 
plates?  I have a C84 with a dirty jet plate and one jet that is 
squirting sideways.  Also, what procedure do you recommend cleaning the 
1280 - printing several pages and soaking the parking station?  Relying 
on the normal head cleaning command?  I've seen some say place a thick 
rag or something under the head and drag it back and forth, but I'm 
afraid that would just force gunk into any jets that are not already 
clogged.  The head cleaning command has not cleared my jet plate now 
for a month.
