As a reviewer/magazine tech. editor, I speak to Epson directly....the Pro  
Division. The 2400 is deemed as the 21/2200 replacement by those people, who are 
 part of the R&D process.
 
I would stand my ground if I were in your shoes. the 1800 is a terrific  
printer for color glossy, but not as versatile as the 2100 and certanainly  
nowhere near a 2400.
