John, My approach is to let my "neutral" profiles favor the color of the paper white somewhat. So, for a bluish white paper, I will skew the entire profile slightly to the cool side. For warm papers, I skew them slightly to the warm side. These are not huge color moves, but subtle moves. As you approach paper white, you move toward its color and I prefer to work with the paper, rather than having a profile that is dead on neutral until it reaches paper white and shows a shift. Others may prefer a different approach, but this works for me.
