Maybe the driver is set up differently than the 4000. Epson seems to have made other changes in the driver, such as the new advanced B&W, and maybe they did address this?? I'd be interested in knowing. You could print a 21 step grayscale wedge at standard color densities, then increase them a little and print a series to measure with a densitormeter or spectro. That should confirm whether the total ink limit is being increased or not.
