Steve, for me the interest in Weston's technique has to do with his his vision. He was not driven technically: he resolved technical challenges early on and subsequently pursued simpler techniques than most professionals. He was obsessive about vision, that's what's compelling. Vision and technology occupy different halves of the brain, and this has implications for digital workflow Vs optical. It's worth reading Daybook II to see what Weston was really about...he's extremely clear about his work.
