I just spent all night printing with the Epson R2400, previously I have been using 2- 1280s, one with Standard Epson Ink, the Other with MIS UT2. I've printed on EEM, Epson Premium Glossy Photo (a sample came with the printer), and Breathing Color Elegance, which is very muck like HPR. All I can say is WOW, the print quality is incredible on all the papers. On the glossy paper there is no bronzing at all, (photo black is used on this paper) the blacks are rich and deep, I guess it has good Dmax. The quality of the B&W images on matte paper (using the matte black ink) is far superior to the 1280 with MIS ink. There seems to be practically no limit to the variations of how the prints can be toned. As good as the quality of the images on glossy, I still prefer warm textured matte paper. I shoot primarily B&W IR images which are very contrasty and sometimes stark, I just like the feeling of matte. . The one major drawback with this printer will be the cost of ink. It cost over $100 to replace 8 cartridges. I probably used up half of the ink last night. All in all I think it's a great printer and I'm sure you will start to hear quite a bit of chatter about the 2400, as they become available at more places. Gary www.pbase.com/garyallenbrown
