Re Black and White Film

2005-06-30 by deandadin

I own and operate a small custom B&W lab is Santa Monica Ca. I
specialize in B&W developing and printing. I also am a photographer
utilizing formats from 35mm SLR and X Pan cameras to 4x5 linhof
cameras where I shoot a lot of 6x12 panoramics. My films of choice are
as follows. I shoot a lot of TMX 100, and TRI X 320. I also shoot a
lot of Acros and TMZ. I also use occasionally Neopan 400. I very
rarely push or pull film tho once in a while it is necessary. My
developers are as follows depending on use. For TRI X and TMX 100 I
use Acufine 1-1. For Neopan 400 and Acros I also use Acufins 1-1 and
sometimes I use Microdol x 1-1. I lower the speeds of all films as
follows. TMX 100 I shoot at 64, TRI X I shoot at 250, Acros I shoot at
64 and Neopan 400 I shoot at 250. Most developing times are bt 10-14
min at room temp. As far as TMZ goes I shoot this film at 50, yes I
said 50 and I develope it in Microdolx for about 20 min. This gives me
a very creamy and fine grain negative that easily blows up to 16x20 or
larger. I also shoot TMX at 1600 and I develope it at this speed in
paper developer, Clayton p 20 and this gives me a very grainy effect
that can be quite nice for nudes. I hope that you find this
information interesting. Please feel free to contact me at
