At http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/Test-files.htm I have a file that is
designed to tell you whether the inks are loaded right. I'm not sure if
this is what you are after. If so, what one does is print the Purge7-2
color file. The UT7 print should look about like Purge7-UT7-2200 file,
which is a scan of such a print.

It depends on the paper. With EEM is will even depend on the batch. It
should be mid 1.60's, however. Note that all the 21-step files have the
same patches on them. The differences are my notes at the bottom that tell
those with the equipment to measure density what the density targets are for
the various patches.

All pure pigment matte black inks are warm. Eboni is about the most neutral
you'll find. If you see the UT7 cool curve as neutral, then the BO prints
will look quite warm to you. The Epson matte black is warmer and will
probably give you deep shadow tones that would look very warm to you.

With the photo K I've been able to cool it down with cyan and blue pigments.
That is what MIS PKN is. (It may be that Epson has now done that with their
Photo K for the 4800.) With the matte black inks, however, my attempts to
cool them down has resulted in a dmax that is too low. The best we might be
able to do is use PKN or a similar ink to carry the shadows down to about
1.4 and then let the Eboni take over from there. That is, pushing the
inevitable cross-over as far down as possible and having it be a mild one
may help. It'll take a rip to do this. I'll be doing it for the 7600 (and
indirectly 2200) with IJC, and the QTR curve writers will be able to do it
for that system. I'll be working on the upgraded UT7-B (?) in late August.
Better control of shadow tones will be the focus of my efforts.
