Re: [Digital BW] R2400 ink Cost per 8x10?

Jeff,

I have had White House Color make some B&W prints for me, and they turned
out really well. Great contrast and detail, no color cast, beautiful
prints. I think you're underrating their process for B&W. For color, I
agree with you completely -- they make awesome prints -- up to 30x40!

Subject: [Digital BW] R2400 ink Cost per 8x10?

I remember when the I was first introduced to photo quality inkjet
printers. One of my first thoughts was "WOW these things are SO
inexpensive !!" . Since then, with each new version that Epson
introduces of their top of the line 13" photo printer the cost has gone
up substantially for the actual printer and also for the inks!

Can anyone with one of the new R2400 printers give my a good
guesstimate of the ink cost per 8"x10" is ?

An interesting side note about cost : For a while I have been using
WHCC.COM to make digital color prints for me. They take my digital
files and output them without doing ANYTHING to the file (so I have
complete control of how the print looks) on their Kodak RP30 digital
RA4 printer. They keep it really well calibrated and the metamerism
free prints are quite good but different than inkjet prints (the prints
are more like tradition C-prints). They only charge $2 for an 8"x10",
$3.85 for an 11"x14" with FREE 2nd day UPS shipping. There is a $12
minimum order. It is quite AMAZING to make high quality prints so
inexpensively without the need for a printer or keeping any supplies on
hand. Of course the prints are only good for color and the paper
choice is limited. Because the RA4 process is not so good for B&W, I
am considering a R2400!
