The 'Design' package only provides the simple target for profiling RGB printers. I've never tried it with a monchrome ink set, but I cant see any way it could work. I did recently get my Epson 1160 with Lyson SG inks tested with a 918 patch (two page) target through Eye One Match (as in Eye One Photo) and it produced quite passable results. I profiled it on the same PermaJet Delta Matt Fibre that I used for the MonoChromePro inks review. The shadow detail was not quite so good as the ImagePrint and QTR test prints I did for that review, but it was better than just using the Epson driver. Now I don't think that you should really expect particularly good results when using inks that are very far from the assumed inkjet CMYK that Eye One Match is producing profiles for, but the Small Gamut profile looks in pretty reasonable shape, with no oddities I can see. > I would like to know if instead of a color target you could use a > B&W target and then get a B&W profile. ... > Also is it possible to use Hutch targets with Eye one Design ? The targets are pretty much fixed by the software - this is part of GMBs product differentiation across the range (Could anyone confirm that the targets in Eye One Photo are the only ones you can produce profiles for?). If you want to profile arbitrary targets I think you have to use software like ProfileMaker Pro The whole question of producing icc profiles for monochrome ink sets like the UT7 is a complex issue - see the recent thread on icc profiles and QTR for lots more interesting comments on the matter and why in some cases it might not even be meaningful to try :-) bye for now Keith Cooper PS I live in Leicester in the UK, if anyone wants a cheap Epson 1160 with SG inks installed and spare cartridges, give me a call - I have too many printers in the office :-)
