I should not have made the assumption that just because it is (algorithmically) relatively easy to provide a reasonable method of interpolation that Adobe had perviously done so before CS. Perhaps processing time was too much of an issue when early versions of PS were written and it got left out of updates until CS. Still my main point was that if the images print well enough for the photographer the interpolation method was adequate, and that is the safest way to judge. Ken
