Greetings and thanks for all the comments about my last post on the reactions received at the Ryuijie and Martha Casanave workshop I finished yesterday. The gist of that post was that no one could tell the difference between two prints identically drymounted and overmatted with a reveal on rag boards: one gelatin silver and the other inkjet R2400 on Epson Premium Semigloss (no overspray as someone asked in past responses). And most didn't care; they wanted to talk about the content and tonal rendering for emotional impact. Soooo, I took in another image for their reactions. The day before I had presented a moderately higher key still life of two pears done in silver gelatin. The new image I did on Photorag with MK and slight sepia tone. I finished the print from large neg scan to final print in about 1/2 hour and printed on 8.5x11 paper. My question to the two instructors (especially Ryuijie who is a master platinum printer) was what they thought of the "object quality" and "photographicness" was of the print I brought in. They already liked the image content. Both of them said they saw absolutely no problems. It did not look "digital" to them. I compared it to Ryuijie's platinum prints laid out all over the table and except for differences in scale and tint, the object-quality of the print was in the same catagory. So now two experiences with fully acceptable inkjet printing. One on EPSG with PK/R2400/AWB comparing just fine with silver gelatin, and one on Photorag with MK/R800/RIP comparing just fine with platinum for its physical qualities. Thanks for allowing me yo share my impressions... Scott
