Get the 5D, it has a much better spec generally including a faster image 
processor and can offer increased flash exposure sophistication when used 
with a 580EX.

I might just add it should hold it's resale value for quite a while.

I know I'm a bit OT here, but one quick question for Claude.
I'm about to buy my first digital camera.  A used Eos 1Ds is about the same
price as a new 5D.  For the same $3500.00, which would you recommend/
Right now I'm a Nikon user (F5) with many lenses, which I will keep as I do
like the film look for personal work, but for business it might be time to
make the switch.
I shoot a lot of editorial available light stuff for Colleges with Fuji 800
color neg., which looks great under any lighting conditions, so I would be
looking for a digital camera that would perform well under those
constraints, at least 800 speed, with minimal noise in the shadows.
