Is it possibly the paper? Cut it 8 ½ square and turn it 90 degrees. I presume that you are talking about the roller that feeds the paper out of the hopper. This roller, however, touches the paper before the inkject. I have tried high speed off, but this did not change anything. I cannot see any indentation on the front or rear of the paper. I might try cleaning the roller in case it has some residue that is coating the paper before the ink hits. I am surprised that this issue has not happened with others (or maybe they don't print a 10*8 solid grey test page!). BTW - Epson tech support was useless - referred me to a repair shop 200 miles away. Regarding the inks, I was trying this printer before going to Eboni ink - but am not now so sure - maybe I will stick with the 1270 and the UT FS inkset.
